Minister Suharso Reveals Efforts to Improve SDGs Governance in Indonesia

Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas Suharso Monoarfa revealed the efforts that will be made by Bappenas in improving SDGs governance in Indonesia in a joint press conference with Minister of Foreign Affairs Retno Marsudi, Monday (02/09/2024).
“As the coordinator of the national SDGs implementation in Indonesia, Bappenas will ensure a co-creation process that involves all stakeholders,” the Minister said.
“Bappenas will also ensure the availability and accuracy of sectoral data from ministries and institutions as a basis for policy formulation,” she added.
In addition to the above, the Minister also explained about other efforts that Bappenas has made in achieving SDGs goals in Indonesia as follows.
First, coordinating with all stakeholders, including parliament, media, community organisations, philanthropy, businesses, as well as academics and experts.
Second, establishing the National Action Plan (NAP) for the SDGs 2021-2024 and 32 Regional Action Plans (RAD) developed from 2017 to 2023.
Third, establishing 40 SDGs centres/hubs/labs/networks across Indonesia. Fourth, conducting the SDGs Annual Conference 6 times. Fifth, organising the SDGs Action Award twice.
On that occasion, the Minister also reviewed the achievements of the SDGs targets. According to him, 128 indicators have been achieved. A total of 31 indicators showed improvement and 55 indicators still require special attention.
Minister Suharso Monoarfa hopes that cross-sector collaboration can be enhanced to effectively map problems and challenges, identify needs, and find innovative solutions in overcoming obstacles to achieving the SDGs targets.
