Minister Suharso Emphasises the Importance of Planning, Control and Supervision in National Development

Minister of National Development Planning Suharso Monoarfa emphasised the importance of planning, control and supervision in national development when delivering remarks at the signing of the MoU between Bappenas and the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP), Thursday (29/08/2024).

The Minister said that careful planning will not provide optimal results without good control and supervision.

‘Therefore, Bappenas as the party in charge of preparing development planning and BPKP as the party controlling and supervising development need to collaborate with each other to ensure that national development can run effectively, efficiently and accountably,’ said the Minister.

‘Today’s MoU signing is an important milestone in strengthening this synergy,’ he added.

The results of control and supervision at the planning stage, according to him, will serve as input so that planning is more qualified and adaptive to various development risks.

‘At the implementation stage, the focus of development supervision will refer to the planned development priorities,’ the Minister explained.

‘This has an effect on stronger control of development priorities through integrated assurance of control and supervision,’ he continued.

The synergy between the two institutions, he said, will increase quality government spending and ensure that every state budget is utilised effectively and efficiently.

‘Collaboration is expected to ensure that development interventions are not only sent but also delivered, so that interventions have a direct impact on people’s welfare and can increase the effectiveness of achieving national development goals,’ he concluded.
