Minister Suharso Discusses A Number of Issues Attends Plenary Meeting with KNEKS
Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas Suharso Monoarfa discussed a number of things when attending a plenary meeting with the Sharia Economic and Financial Committee (KNEKS), Friday (04/10/2024).
In addition to discussing sharia economy and finance, this meeting also ensured synergy between sharia economic policies and national and regional development plans, identifying opportunities and challenges that could occur.
In the previous meeting, it was discussed that KNEKS would change its status to the Sharia Development Coordinating Agency. This aims to strengthen sharia economic institutions in Indonesia.
Along the way, here are some of the roles of the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas in the development of sharia economy in Indonesia in 2024.
Firstly, Bappenas oversees the planning, implementation and evaluation of this policy. The 2024 RKP accommodates Islamic economic development policies through priority activities and projects, including the halal industry and Islamic finance.
Second, it emphasises the strengthening of the Islamic economy as a strategy to increase productivity through the 2025-2045 RPJPN, which was enacted through Law No 59 of 2024. This policy serves as a guideline for the RPJMN, RKP, and regional plans between 2025-2045.
Third, accommodating priority programmes for the Islamic economy, including five main activities such as the halal industry, halal product exports, halal MSME ecosystem, Islamic finance and Islamic social funds in the RPJMN 2025-2029.
Fourth, Bappenas, together with KNEKS and related ministries and institutions, has finalised the Indonesian Halal Industry Master Plan (MPIHI) 2023-2029, which was launched by the Vice President at the Indonesia Sharia Economic Festival (ISEF) 2023.
Fifth, Bappenas plays a role in strengthening KNEKS into the Sharia Economic Development Agency (BPES). Currently, the process of changing the name is in the process of being approved by the relevant Ministers, through a draft Perpres.
Sixth, Bappenas is now the Chair of the Working Group for the Indonesian Sharia Economic Masterplan (MEKSI) 2025-2029, which will clarify the direction of sharia economic policy and ensure clear indicators of achievement for the next five years.
