Minister Suharso Attends Submission of Qualified Partner Letter for LRT Project in Bali
Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas Suharso Monoarfa attended the handover of the qualified partner and lead consortium of investors letters for the LRT construction project in Bali, Wednesday (24/07/2024).
Qualified partner is a party that is deemed to have met the criteria or requirements as an official partner in a collaboration project. Meanwhile, the lead consortium of investors is the party appointed to lead investors to fund and manage a project.
In his speech, Minister Suharso highlighted the important role of infrastructure in encouraging quality tourism in Bali. Because Bali has been designated as one of the priority tourism destinations in the 2025-2045 RPJPN.
According to him, Bali is still faced with basic infrastructure and connectivity problems in achieving this goal.
The Minister said that the problems facing Bali in basic infrastructure include the Suwung landfill which has exceeded capacity, minimal access to safe sanitation, and only 44% of households have access to piped drinking water.
“Meanwhile, the problem in terms of transportation connectivity is traffic congestion. “This condition often occurs due to limited public transportation, including the traffic jam incident that occurred at the airport last year. It is still a problem that needs to be resolved,” said the Minister.
“The plan to build the Bali LRT can be part of developing quality tourism in Bali. “Bappenas consistently supports development planning in Bali, through the preparation of the Kerthi Bali Economic Road Map,” added the Minister.
The Minister said that Bappenas would be part of overseeing the next process in the construction of the Bali LRT.
Apart from Bappenas, Minister Suharso also explained the role of other Ministries/Institutions at the central level which play a direct or indirect role in the construction of the Bali LRT.
The Ministry of Transportation plays a role as a facilitator of technical aspects, the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning/BPN plays a role in supporting regulations for land acquisition and use of underground space and the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding the division of authority.
The Minister hopes that the implementation of the construction of the Bali LRT project can continue to be carried out jointly in order to improve connectivity to support tourism and become a breakthrough for the current government and future governments in the context of achieving the Golden Indonesia Vision 2045.
