Minister Suharso Attends Ratification Meeting of 26 Regency/City Bills Becoming Laws

Minister of National Development Planning/Head of Bappenas Suharso Monoarfa attended the ratification of 26 district/city Draft Laws (RUU) into law at the 21st Plenary Session of the Indonesian House of Representatives for Session Period V Session Year 2023-2024, Tuesday (09/07/2024).
All city and district bills that were passed apply to the Riau Islands Province, Lampung Province, Jambi Province, Riau Province and West Sumatra Province.
The bills passed for Lampung Province include the Bill on South Lampung Regency, the Bill on Central Lampung Regency and the Bill on North Lampung Regency. The bills passed for Jambi Province include the Bill on Batanghari Regency, the Bill on Kerinci Regency, the Bill on Jambi City and the Bill on Merangin Regency.
The bills passed for Riau Province include the Bill on Bintan Regency, the Bill on Bengkalis Regency, the Bill on Indragiri Hulu Regency, the Bill on Kampar Regency and the Bill on Pekanbaru City.
The bills passed for West Sumatra Province include the Bill on Limapuluh Kota Regency, the Bill on Agam Regency, the Bill on Padang Pariaman Regency, the Bill on Pasaman Regency, the Bill on Pesisir Selatan Regency, the Bill on Sijunjung Regency, the Bill on Solok Regency and the Bill on Regency Flatland.
Other bills in West Sumatra Province include the Bill on Bukittinggi City, the Bill on Padang Panjang City, the Bill on Padang City, the Bill on Payakumbuh City, the Bill on Sawahlunto City and the Bill on Solok City.
Minister Suharso, who represented the President, expressed his final opinion, saying that the preparation of the 26 district/city bills was a form of updating the legal basis and regional coverage which was no longer relevant to current conditions.
“The inclusion of regional characteristics as one of the substances in these 26 bills is also an indicator of the state’s recognition of the characteristics of each region as well as an emphasis that Indonesia is a plural, multi-cultural, multi-ethnic, multi-racial and even multi-landscape country. “, but integrated within the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia in accordance with the motto Bhinneka Tunggal Ika,” said the Minister.
On behalf of the government, the Minister also expressed his highest thanks and appreciation to all parties involved in drafting the 26 district/city bills until they were passed into law.
“May Allah SWT, Almighty God, always provide His convenience, guidance, direction and help to all of us in dedicating ourselves to our beloved community, nation and country,” he concluded.
