Meeting with UNCTAD General Secretary, Minister Suharso Explores Opportunities for Cooperation in Trade and Investment
Minister of National Development Planning Suharso Monoarfa explored opportunities for cooperation in trade and investment, during a bilateral meeting with the General Secretary of UNCTAD in Davos, Wednesday (17/01/2024).
We are also seeking to explore opportunities to create collaboration between UNCTAD and the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas, in high-level forums, increasing entrepreneurial capacity and global supply chains, as well as joint studies on issues related to trade and investment
Apart from exploring opportunities for cooperation, the Minister also conveyed the support of the Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas in UNCTAD’s mission to strengthen support for the needs of developing countries in the trade and development sectors.
The Minister also said that Indonesia would optimize the momentum of the commemoration of UNCTAD 60 and Indonesia’s presidency of the 2024 Trade Development Board to strengthen our cooperation on important issues, including the global supply chain, namely the UNCTAD Global Supply Chain Forum 2024.
“Our Ministry will be happy to actively participate and contribute to the UNCTAD 2024 Global Supply Chain Forum in May 2024,” said the Minister.
As co-chair of the 2023-2025 GPEDC, the Minister said that Indonesia will host the High Level Forum for Multi-Stakeholder Partnerships (HLF-MSP) in June/July 2024, in Yogyakarta.
In line with this, the Minister gathered support from the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) as a knowledge partner in this important meeting.
Apart from that, the Minister also gathered support for UNCTAD to optimize research products and disseminate them widely through HLF-MSP and GPEDC.
