IKN and East Kalimantan Economic Development Strategy within the Advanced Indonesia Framework
East Kalimantan (Kaltim) is one of the provinces in Indonesia which has great economic potential. To realize sustainable and inclusive economic growth, various economic development strategies have been designed which aim to improve welfare and society in facing economic challenges, especially in the context of the Covid-19 pandemic.
In this context, implementing an economic development strategy based on the principles of diversification, poverty and advanced technology is the main key in efforts to recover and grow the East Kalimantan economy.
First, diversification and development of new economic sectors is the main focus in East Kalimantan’s economic development strategy. This step aims to reduce economic dependence on certain sectors and increase economic resilience.
Economic diversification will also open up opportunities for local communities to get involved in various new economic sectors, such as sustainable tourism, modern agriculture and creative industries.
Second, the principles of sustainable, environmentally friendly and technologically advanced industrial development are the foundation for the development of the industrial sector in East Kalimantan. By prioritizing environmentally friendly technology and innovation in production processes, East Kalimantan can strengthen its position as a sustainable and competitive industrial center at the global level.
Apart from that, increasing awareness of the need to protect the environment will also help destroy East Kalimantan’s natural resources for future generations.
Third, the construction of a new national capital in East Kalimantan will be the main driver in post-Covid-19 economic recovery. Apart from being a symbol of change and modernization, the development of the nation’s capital will also trigger economic growth through massive investment in infrastructure, property and related service sectors.
By providing new job opportunities and increasing people’s purchasing power, the development of the state capital in East Kalimantan will have a significant positive impact on the regional and national economy.
Fourth, creating new jobs through infrastructure investment is an important strategy to support East Kalimantan’s economic growth.
Investment in infrastructure development, such as toll roads, ports and airports, will create direct jobs during the construction phase and also strengthen connectivity between regions, facilitate the mobility of goods and services, and increase the overall competitiveness of the East Kalimantan economy.
