Efforts to Realize Quality and Equitable Education in Indonesia

In 2045, Indonesia has a strong vision to improve quality and equitable education. In an effort to achieve this goal, various strategies and concrete steps have been designed to form an education system that is able to empower every Indonesian citizen.
The main focus is on accelerating compulsory education, improving the quality of teachers and lecturers, revitalizing non-formal education, collaborating with the Business and Industrial World (DUDI), increasing participation in higher education, improving the quality of learning, and strengthening religious and character education.
The first step in educational transformation is the acceleration of compulsory education to 12 years, which includes strengthening early childhood education (PAUD). Increasing access and quality of education at an early age provides a strong foundation for subsequent learning. In addition, the expansion of mandatory early childhood education ensures that every child has an equal opportunity to start their educational journey.
The importance of the role of the community in providing education is also emphasized. The community is expected to participate in supporting and supervising the implementation of educational programs, creating a conducive learning environment, and motivating students to achieve their best achievements. Strengthening the role of society is expected to increase the sustainability and relevance of education.
Efforts to improve the quality and distribution of teachers and lecturers are a key strategy in achieving quality education goals. Continuous training, professional development and incentives for teachers and lecturers are implemented to increase their competence and dedication. Efforts are made to distribute teachers and lecturers throughout Indonesia so that every student receives quality teaching.
Non-formal education, lifelong education and life skills are integrated in the curriculum to ensure that every individual has skills that are relevant to the demands of the world of work. It is hoped that the revitalization of non-formal education and emphasis on life skills will create graduates who are not only academically intelligent but also ready to face life’s challenges.
The importance of collaboration with the Business and Industrial World (DUDI) is emphasized through the revitalization of vocational education and training. Close relations between educational institutions and industry are expected to ensure the relevance of the curriculum to job market needs, increase graduate productivity and strengthen their competitiveness.
Increasing participation in higher education, especially in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM), is a strategic focus. The use of educational endowment funds and granting mandates to State Universities (PTN) is expected to produce quality graduates who are able to compete at the global level.
Comprehensive assessments, quality assurance systems and effective educational governance are the keys to improving the quality of learning. Strengthening religious education, character education and manners are integrated in the learning process to create a generation that is not only intellectually intelligent, but also has strong morality.
Higher education institutions are mandated to strengthen outcome-based learning systems, implementing multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approaches. This is expected to accelerate social mobility, ensuring that higher education not only achieves prestige, but also has a positive impact on improving people’s quality of life.
