Defence and Security Development in Achieving National Stability
Defence and security development is an essential foundation in achieving national security stability. This stability, in turn, has a significant impact on the achievement of development targets in other sectors.
Indonesia, as a country committed to becoming a developed nation, continues to actualise security stability through transformative policies. The goal is to create a safe and comfortable environment for the entire population and citizens.
One indication of success in defence force development is the decline in the Global Terrorism Index from 4.70 in 2014 to 3.9 in 2023. This decline reflects the government’s strong commitment in implementing terrorism prevention, countermeasures and de-radicalisation activities.
Through various integrated programmes and strategies, the government has succeeded in creating a better security climate, so that people can live their daily lives without fear.
Not only terrorism, cybersecurity is also a major concern. In an increasingly advanced digital era, cyber threats can affect various aspects of life. Therefore, Indonesia’s commitment to cybersecurity management is evident through a 17.28-point increase in the Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) from 2018 to 2020, which lifted Indonesia to 24th out of 194 countries.
This achievement cannot be separated from the development and strengthening of the Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT), securing cyber infrastructure, and increasing the capacity of human resources and supporting regulations.
International cooperation in the cyber field is also one of the strategies taken to strengthen national cyber security. By establishing good relations with other countries, Indonesia can share information and experiences in dealing with cyber threats, and improve overall cyber resilience.
Overall, sustainable defence and security development is an important step towards creating national stability. Success in tackling the threat of terrorism and improving cyber security is clear evidence of the government’s commitment to protecting the people.
Thus, Indonesia not only strives to create a safe environment, but also plays an active role in realising world peace and championing national interests. This shows that effective defence and security development not only has a positive impact on national stability, but also contributes to the development of other sectors.
